We are all interesting women! All of us made the decision as teenagers to do something different: attend a women’s college. And now we’re all grown-up women who continue living lives with a penchant for quirkiness and intellectual passion. Please enjoy these short bios of our classmates as we look forward to seeing each other in person!

Audrey T. resumed full-time teaching (4th grade) in Chapel Hill, NC last year. She picked her house, a rambling mid-century mess, for its well-lit space for art, a workshop for her husband, and its location just outside town to have enough space for their three cats, one ferocious tiny dog, and flock of chickens. Her two daughters are somehow in middle school. Audrey loves making art (she sold a painting this fall!) and enjoys the local life drawing group. She is also working on a graphic memoir, with stories from her childhood, as well as doing sketches about the funhouse that is menopause. (See: “Temperature Regulation Foot” above)

Beth R. took up making wheel thrown pottery this year to keep herself grounded in our turbulent times. She’s lived in Albuquerque, NM with her husband, Eric (HC ’97), for over two decades and loves the mountains, green chile, and its quirky culture. During her twenty-year tenure at Sandia National Laboratories, Beth earned the position of Fellow, their senior most staff-level position. Currently she travels to Boston to visit her daughter in college (a junior at Tufts), to Cleveland to keep her skills sharp at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland, and to both coasts to lead executive leadership trainings. Her other self-care activities include swimming, yoga, reading, chatting with dear friends, and enjoying delicious ice cream.

Laurie S. has a dedicated bookcase for cookbooks in her home in Naperville, IL. It’s no surprise, then, that she has a PhD in Nutrition Science and supports triathletes, Ninja Warriors, and sports teams with her business, Nutrition Heartbeat. (And she shamelessly uses her education to justify mochas after her weekend long runs.) After completing the International Olympic Committee Diploma in Sports Nutrition, Laurie attended her graduation in Switzerland at the IOC this fall. She and her husband made it a vacation, and she even bought a dirndl to wear at Oktoberfest in Munich! Laurie vividly remembers her interview at BMC when she was asked if she considered herself a radical feminist – thankfully, also being asked to define it gave her time to figure out what it was and whether she was one… One of her greatest joys is a decade-long text/meme chain with Diana F. and several other Mawrter friends.
